Just wondering. I ran across this
link from Smirking Chimp to the Moscow Times, concerning right-wing religionists working to establish all the elements of a theocracy to the U.S. It looks like something to keep in mind. It sounds like something Bush would jump into if he thought he could get away with it.
I first heard about Reconstructionist thinking probably 10 years ago, but haven't heard much about it lately. What I recall is that it means to bring an Old Testament kind of ethic and law in place of our liberal, democratic system. It's called reconstructioni because it's reconstructing what they believe God wanted us to have in the first place, as seen in ancient Israel.
Some of this looks like just internet conspiracy wacko stuff, but how do we know?
This link and news looks pretty genuine:
Link: WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Robert Aderholt (R-Haleyville) announced today in Alabama that he has introduced "The Constitution Restoration Act" (H.R. 3799), a bill requiring the federal courts to operate within the jurisdiction given to them by the United States Constitution as it pertains to the public acknowledgment of God as the sovereign source of law, liberty, and government.
That sounds fairly strange, eh? Perhaps not our vision for America? Maybe worth a contribution to John Kerry?
