This will be a short rant.
Watching a recording of tonight's CBS Evening News, the big story was WikiLeaks and Afghanistan. How it's going to be harder to fight the war, recruit Afghan cooperation, etc., etc. Fair enough.
Then on comes Mr. Serious, Jeff Greenfield, to tell all us dumbshits what it really means. The money quote:
The Press used to see itself as a gatekeeper, deciding what information was reliable enough to make public. Well now, there are no gates.
What a pompous self-serving sack of crap. He wasn't lamenting the Press and their floodgates of intentionally wrong information spewed out last week on Fox regarding Shirley Sherrod. No, he was trying to give the "both sides do it" crap and it wasn't our fault in the media line. Nice try asswipe!
But even laying that aside. NO ONE IS DISPUTING THE RELIABILITY OF THE WIKI LEAKS INFORMATION! You may not like it, but it is not mis-information. It was formerly secret information that was disclosed to the public.
And they wonder why it's just old farts like me watching the major network news anymore.
