MSNBC during the day is milque toast. Strictly coffee table blathering. The fun starts at 4pm.
Guthrie and Todd had nutjob-deluxe Congressman, Steve King on THE DAILY RUDOWN just now. Todd and Guthrie lobbed pure softball to King in an atmosphere that should have been to cut him down via his past statements and his shitty voting record. First question to King was what went wrong with the Repubs while in power and what advice would you give to the tea party? Why don't you just ask him if he saw the Yankee game last night? Another question was why is a Tea Party caucus necessary? Try not to antagonize him too much, Samantha. The morning shows are risk and conflict averse it seems. Just like our president. I see the same on CNN and all the 3 crappy networks in N.Y.City.
Todd did get a slight jab at King on why he reversed his vote on prescription drugs from yes to no and King backpeddles with, "I have to go look at the bill". King's racist rants and other low ball tactics never got thru in the interview despite Kings nuttery. And that's where the grilling ends. Instead of challenging this hypocritical shit on his voteshifting with a followup, the question stops there. Your either for a prescription benefit or not. You dont let a maggot like KING get away with such a statement without digging more. Another question asked , then another softball followup and on to the next question. Could you imagine ED grilling this turd KING? King would be digging his grave while ED goes to town on him. Anyway, King was comfortable
Then there is a new TAMRON HALL commercial saying in short how she scrutinizes her guests swith probing question-she calls it "push". She's not tough either. She has her moments but her sessions are strictly entertainment not analysis.
I just have to mention this. Chris Matthews' (tweety) ad for his show have him extolling how he basks in the glory of letting the guest have it in an interview, and how he likes it. Right tweety. I have been watching your show for a while and the only time you go after anyone are the non-politicos or the wack job extremoes. You'll never see him give Orrin Hatch a hard time. Or McConnell. Enuf, you get the picture. I won't even mention the other players on MSNBC during the morn-afternoon. It's even worse.
The fun starts with Dylan Ratigan. He has balls and goes after everyone if he thinks he smells a rat. And he has been exposing the crooks on Wall Street as well as explaining the complexities of their schemes.
Then there's ED show with his fiery brand of interviewing taking on all, exempting nobody.
I'm a so-so fan of Chris Matthews. His chuminess with politicoes is precisely
what gives me pause about the intent of the segment. This does not help.
Then Olbermann and Maddow to continue the bombing runs.
An unfettered understanding of events begins at 4pm with Ratigan. There is more depth to the shows and the interviewing asks the important questions along with follow ups that make the guests uneasy and queasy. That's when you get unvarnished answers even if it pisses off the guest. Remember when Traficant walked off the set during an interview with O'Donnell? He didn't want to answer for the dirty laundry in his past and his embrace of Tea Birther tenets.
The morning and afternoon is tilted to the right on MSNBC and I forgot to mention the ridiculous MIKA AND JOE show that begins at 6. Pat Buchanan's disgusting presence almost everyday can tell you where this show tilts towards.
Well I'll just have to watch Modern Marvels and CSI before 4pm.
