As an American living in Europe, I am often asked to explain American political debates. My advice, learn the four golden repudiations to decode the self-serving contradictory stream of hokum, lies, racism and hatred that substitutes for public discourse in the toxic land mass squeezed between Canada and Mexico.
These key repudiations; a vital ingredient in the indoctrination of the Reagan Youth running the joint are mouthed reflexively the moment the conversation veers toward collapsing empire.
The four golden repudiations are; anti-semite, Al Gore, killing babies and communism.
Note: If you find yourself in a political debate with an American, it’s not important to form complete, intelligible sentences. All that’s needed is to blurt out a few syllables and point your finger. Resist the temptation to make sense. Admittedly, while spewing these repudiations, you might think you sound nonsensical but don’t dwell on the obvious. After all, you’re free to make no sense. That’s why they hate us.
Some examples:
Non American: "Obama just raised the war spend in afghan by 30 billion. That brings the total cost to 1 trillion."
American: They killed our people on 9/11, what are you, anti-semite?
Non American: The highest temperature decade on record is causing fires around the globe. Even the bond markets are starting to collapse due to agricultural devastation.
American: Al Gore got a hand job from a massage therapist.
Non American: Google and the CIA are jointly financing a pre-crime, information gathering, wire tapping monstrosity that sells every detail of your life to ad agencies and banks who force chotskies and debts on you.
American: Babies are human beings. Are you for killing babies?
Non American: Wow unemployment in the U.S. is now over 20% when you add back the people who have stopped looking for work.
American: Are you a communist?
Now you’re ready to appear as a pundit on any TV political debate show in America. Remember to point your finger a lot and practice looking indignant.
