Either way you will be left standing waiting forever for an impossibility, an agenda requires ideas and as we all know republicans have NO IDEAS.
Yes it's true that at the end of the day they will scribble some words on a piece of regular paper (or parchment paper and call it the SECEDED sTEAtes CONstitution) and call it an agenda, and CNN and Fox News will rave and they will scream and shout in joy as they profess for the Nth time how this presages the complete obliteration of the democrats in November, well not that fast.
First, from all the polling data that I have seen so far America is not becoming more conservative, it's becoming more independent, which is why I say that all this pundits have it TOTALLY WRONG.
Could this move of becoming more independent have anything to do with President Obama? You betcha, he is not a liberal, he is a centrist.
So having America become a centrist nation could very well be his greatest achievement, a complete realignment of the political paradigm where there is NO LEFT and NO RIGHT to speak of (Yes there will always be both sides of the coin but most of what the coin is made of sits in the middle not on either side), where local races are won and lost on local issues and national elections are won and lost on national issues.
Yes it is true democrats will suffer some heavy losses (I predict anywhere from 15 to 20 seats) but nowhere near the total defeat that pundits predict, and the idea that democrats will lose one or both houses is just laughable.
The public actually likes democrats what they don't like is the process in WatchInStone DC where everything is just stalled, petrified in place like the Lincoln Memorial, Congress rarely agrees on anything other than disagreeing, that kind of political malfeasance where unemployment benefits are used as political football is what makes people really mad.
To prove my point, take a look at any poll (except Rasmussen of course) and you will see that republicans have made no gains when it comes to voters.
The largest growth is in the Independent column, yes democrats took a hit as the party in power this was expected but the people leaving them are not becoming republican which completely conflicts with the view by the mainstream media that it's all over for democrats in November.
Yes there are some polls that show trends that some states lean more in favor of one party or another but if we follow conventional wisdom President Obama should not have been elected President as some polls even before election day had John McCain winning the damn election.
The only poll that counts is the one on November 2nd, yes we will take a licking, albeit a moderate one, but we will certainly keep on ticking.
As far as the GOP promises of an Agenda I have all my money tied up on the Elm tree coming up with some plump and juicy pears. Ignorance "truly" is bliss, and I say... Enjoy !
UPDATE: If you wonder why this diary is so short on specifics, well I have NO IDEA ;p
