Don't worry, we'll get to the drinking stuff later, but first, my obligatory rant:
Today... I was at work, when someone told me that Sharon of the batshit crazy told the world that it was okay to eliminate Social Security because Pinochet did it, I fell out of my chair. Then I got back up, and poured a sizable glass of scotch out of my bosses lower right desk drawer.
Did she just hand us a win? No. Why? Because the screaming fucktards who would vote for her have no idea who Pinochet was.
I am at a loss. If you do some research on the subject, the privatization, you will see that for some reason, even though it was supposedly good for the people to privatize it, he excluded himself and the Junta. Didn't the Tea Party get ticked when Congresscritters decided they wouldn't be part of the system of healthcare they voted for? What was their reason? If the system was so good, then why didn't they include themselves?
Case, meet point. I will accept your apologies later.
It is ironic that someone who calls Obama a fascist would ally herself with someone since Pinochet and his regime have been characterised as fascist.
So this is the system she wants to replicate:
A quarter of a century since privatization took effect, Chilean's retirement security is on shaky ground. Recent reports by the World Bank and the Federal Reserve have highlighted some of the many problems with Chile's system. A combination of high management fees, low participation rates, unexpectedly heavy dependence on an inadequate safety net, and prohibitively high costs to government have led the system along a path of failure and left many Chilean workers with no reliable retirement plan. Is this really the model the United States hopes to replicate?
Bang up job they did there, and that's not even talking about how evil a fucker Pinochet was. For fuck's sake Nevadans, wake up!
Okay, /rant, now let's talk about beer, or scotch, or vodka, or wine, or fucking soon to be universally legal in CA, weed. That way, we can have some fun even though there is so much not right with the world right now.
There's at least a cheery theme song for you:
I'm sorry this diary was a bit heavy for FNBB, but shit had to be said. Whatcha drinkin' /Palinspeak
Let's have some fun talking about whatever, my rant doesn't have to impact our ability to have a little fun.
