If you wandered down Market St or Montgomery or Powell Sts you might have noticed some letters in those clumps of newstands. They spelled out things like CAPITALISM IS OVER IF YOU WANT or GAMBLING WITH OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY and such similar.
You may have come across a pig dressed up with CORPORATE logos, sitting @ Montgomery BART station reminding people of the price of Dead Birds, and other Debris from Bush Oil Gusher in Gulf of Mexico

Blow Out Odyssey
For this public intervention, the artists invited themselves — and their personal arguments with each other — into the offices of several downtown businesses. While winding their way through the financial district, Fletcher and Reichert walked and argued, loudly and passionately, about their finances, their unintended moments of dishonesty, their expectations about the other’s role in the relationship, and their general frustrations with each other as a couple.

Bertoldt Brecht's "The Shopper"
and Today's Big Return
As a fashion stylist in the 1990′s, I learned to hate shopping. The repetitive action of shopping and returning became a kind of meditation on consumption and diffused my own need to consume. Working on catalogs for various products also demystified the lure of luxury brands and other consumer products. In the spirit of the fashion industry, join me for a day of binging and purging. We will shop and return as an exploration of desire and consumption. Those who would like to return previous purchases are also encouraged to make returns with the support of the group. The production of spontaneous de-haul videos will also be encouraged.
All shopping and returning will be done in Union Square from 10am to 6pm for the Capitalism Is Over performance in San Francisco. (if 10am on a Saturday is too early, contact me on facebook and I’ll let you know where to meet us later in the day)
Those who can’t attend but would like to participate, can submit documentation of returns (videos, stills, journal entries, voice recordings, written pieces) to be posted to the CIO website. All collaborators work will be credited.

Please join us this SUNDAY, AUGUST 15th 7pm – 10pm at THE LUGGAGE STORE GALLERY (1007 Market Street, SF) for a potluck to celebrate CIO! and all of the folks who have participated/supported the project. This will also be a great opportunity to view CIO!’s Projection Series. We’ll be rolling up the Luggage Store’s first floor roll-updoor so that we can celebrate outside and see the projections.
