Let's settle the public sector vs. private sector debate once and for all with a little formula.
We keep hearing from the cons that the private sector is more efficient, thus "cheaper" than the public sector at performing various services, such as running prisons, public water utilities, parking meters, toll roads, various military "support" functions (bad food, deathtrap housing, private armies), etc. Here is a simple equation to rebut this lie:
Private Sector Price:
Cost + shareholder profits + CEO bonus + PR expenses + advertising + legal fees to fight fines by government agencies + fines + kickbacks + PAC donations + direct political donations + phony think tank/astroturf group upkeep + (inflation cost x3)
Public Sector Price:
Cost + inflation cost
Any questions?
P.S. Please feel free to point out missing variables.
