I have not heard or read the speech you gave at the Lincoln Memorial. Perhaps, having no knowledge of exactly what you said, I ought not to comment. But I do not need to read or hear your words to know what kind of speech you gave.
You spoke of America "wandering lost", a reference to the Old testament account of the Jewish nation wandering in the desert. You take pride in being a Christian, Mr Beck. But hate, bigotry, racism and discrimination ARE NOT, HAVE NEVER BEEN and CAN NOT EVER BE Christian values.
You call for a return to American values. Well, Mr Beck, hate, bigotry, racism and discrimination are NOT and should never be American values. Those were, however, the values of many Southern Democrats in the decades before, during and after the Civil War. The Republican Party which you claim to be a part of was, in fact, the party that pushed through the 14th Amendment that is now under review by the Republican Party.
How dare you disgrace and dishonor the memorial of the President who, flawed as we all are, tried his best to bring some equality to our country and was killed. Have you never read these words?
It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.
