I along with millions of other volunteers worked our fannies off in the 2008 election to elect Barack Obama President of the United States. We were successful. On his coattails we were able to elect a super majority of diverse representatives for our Big Tent Democratic Party to the House of Representatives and eventually at some point in 2009 we had a super majority of diverse Big Tent Democrats and Independents in the Senate.
We have many accomplishments to show for these diverse Democratic elected officials actions since January 2009. I don't need to list them here but I think that deep down no matter where your opinion falls we can all recognize that a lot has been done in the last 20 months.
Since Progressive/Liberals/Democrats are a diverse group not all of us have the same level of approval with this Congress. Some believe that they should have done a whole lot more and nothing less than what they had expected will be acceptable. Others feel that this Congress is at an acceptable level of approval and others fall somewhere in between.
That's what in my opinion diversity should look like. I respect everyone's opinion and I believe that our President and this Congress appreciate our dissenting views and support of their efforts.
What I won't accept and I find offensive is for a Democrat or someone who supports the majority of Democratic views who asks me to quit half way through my President's first term in office.
Now I know that Ed Schultz is liked by many progressives because to some he shows great passion for his causes. Passion is a strange emotion and if not channeled properly can do much harm. To have a progressive voice such as his advocate suppressing the Democratic vote this November is a derelict of duty in my opinion.
Ed Schultz In His Own Words I'm not sure who did the visual of this video so ignore that part but listen carefully to his words. And yes they are HIS words!
My message to Ed is sit at home. Don't vote but don't you dare advocate that others not vote. His actions in my opinion are deplorable.
I had twin sons serve mulitple tours in that bogus, horrible and damaging Iraq War because not enough of us got up off our butts and went to the polls to vote so that the powers to be couldn't overturn the election in 2000. We wanted to teach the Dems a lesson. The damage that Republican administration and Congress did to this country will be felt for 100 years.
No, Ed Schultz you sit at home and complain about what didn't get done. It's one thing to criticize but quite another to go into dangerous territory and advocate that people surrender their vote to the right-wing extremists in this country.
I'll take my chances with this diverse Big Tent Democratic Party (who do indeed give me heartburn at times) over the crap that the Republicans offer any day.
We Democrats are Not Quitters! We'll just keep fighting for more and better Dems.
