In nine weeks it will be all but over. The ballots will have been cast and counted and there will be nothing left to do but live with the outcome.
We on the Democratic side will either be basking in the glow of victory or wallowing in our defeat.
Right now each of us still has the opportunity to influence the outcome of these races. Due to the strong registration drives of 2008 and continued in 2010 we Democrats have the numbers to win and defend our seats in practically any district up for re-election. This is why we have been so successful in the House Special Elections since 2008.
This past Saturday I attended a canvass and BBQ in PG County Maryland and the turnout was phenomenal. We had nearly a thousand in attendance for the BBQ after the canvass and we were able to sign up hundreds of volunteers to GOTV this Fall to re-elect our Governor Martin O'Malley.
We had great music, good food and drinks for everyone who attended with one caveat. In order to get food and drink you had to have an O'Malley sticker. You got the sticker by signing in and giving us your name, phone number, email address and you could sign up to volunteer on the campaign. This was grassroots at its best.
On November 2, 2010 let's not have any regrets. Go all out and canvass, make calls, donate your time or money but do something every week between now and election day to help Move America Forward.
