I watched the President speaking about the attacks on him yesterday, and realized that he just doesn't get it.....
I am sorry, I just don't think this man gets it. I cannot for the life of me understand what he is thinking about anything. It is as though somehow he can't comprehend just how badly things are going on around him in every way.
From the economy, to the war, to the narrative regarding his ethnic and religious background, he just seems to be unaware of what is happening around him. I watched with such frustration his refusal to call people out for their mislabeling of him as a member of some kind of evil religious group, bent on over throwing and ruling the world (I am not going to address the thought process of people who view Islam, and our Muslim brethren as evil bent on destruction; I mean, I don't even understand that. It is pure racism of the most vile kind. I wanted to say this, but I don't want to distract myself from what I am trying to write here). It is as though he can't escape the intellectual structures he has created for himself, seemingly unable to see the world for what it is. It is one thing to place yourself above the fray, but another thing to put yourself in a world in which no one else but you resides.
From his education secretary, to his secretary of the treasury, this seems to be a man who can't figure out just our of touch with realty he has become, and just how much he has surrounded himself with persons of similar disjointed, disconnection. It is one thing to act with dignity, but it is folly to turn the other cheek, and rely on abstract constructs in the belief that "having faith in the American People" will prove to be enough
So we come to today's Gallup poll. How can the Republicans have a generic 10 point lead? That just makes no sense, and we all know that. But, the answer is clear; this President through his understatement, conscious effort to avoid the partisan, and reluctance to show strength is on the verge of allowing a catastrophe to occur, and he is leading his party like lemmings to the cliff, in a mad dash towards some bi-partisan Nirvana. If you let the other side do all the talking, then that is all people are going to hear. And when it is all said and done, we the real people, are the ones who will suffer.
Mr. President, it is time to come down from your ivory tower, and back to the real world and real people who live in it. If you don't, your refusal to lead will have terrible effect for generations to come. If you won't fight for yourself, at least fight for us!
