Heard this disturbing tidbit on the news today: The New Jersey Camden Public Libraries will be permanently closing due to losing over 60% of their funding.
This is of course a trickle-down from Governor Christie's 75% cut in the state budget for libraries. As the axe falls indiscriminately, it is chopping off basic, fundamental and critical parts of communities, and making the whole country poorer for it. This is selling out our future, pure and simple.
