While I love politics, and writing about it, my work as a journalist focuses primarily on science and the environment.
Because I write about those issues, and am glad that I do, it is a special pleasure for me to be part of the Daily Kos community.
This ongoing conversation includes several outstanding science writers - Meteor Blades and DarkSyde, among others - and I value and appreciate my chances to read their work.
I am writing tonight with a special request: read my first book reviews and give me some feedback.
Here they are:
- "Famed biologist's book makes unassailable case for reality of evolution," Examiner.com, Aug. 8, 2010
- "America's Voyagers: New book by author Stephen J. Pyne celebrates decades-old space probes," Examiner.com, Aug. 8, 2010
I'm not doing this to hype my work, though I won't mind a few people going over and reading it.
No, what I'm hoping is that the good people here will give me some constructive feedback on these reviews. Do they get you interested in reading the books? Do they discourage you from doing so? What else would you want to know before you went to your local library or book store and asked for one or both of them?
Thanks in advance for your help. As a journalist I try to work under the rule that I can always improve and, considering this is a bold, new direction in my writing, your thoughts will be welcome.
