I don't like to say I told you so, but according to Katrina at the Nation on Twitter, it was just confirmed that Elizabeth Warren will be nominated next week at the WH to head the Consumer Protection Agency.

WH (& others) indicate Elizabeth Warren 2 be nominated next week to head Consumer Financial Protection Agency. Kudos 2 all who worked 4 her.
As I suggested earlier, there was very little reason NOT to nominate her. Dodd aside, the one thing which may have prevented her from being nominated would be the likelihood of obtaining 60 votes. But the WH had never put that at question. Chris Dodd did. The HuffPo story which state that Geithner was "opposed" to her nomination was thinly sourced and had no validity to it.
In fact, the WH actually questioned reporters when it came to her credentials and whether she was controversial. Here's Gibbs from Last Week:
" Q He also said that Elizabeth Warren would be a very controversial nominee to the Consumer Protection Agency. Do you have any comment on that?
MR. GIBBS: Based on what?
Q That’s what he said during the interview.
MR. GIBBS: I don’t know what he bases -- it would be interesting to know what he based his comments on.
Q A lot of people have said that she could be a controversial pick.
MR. GIBBS: Based on?
Q I mean, Senator Dodd has said that she might not get enough votes to be --
MR. GIBBS: Based on?
Q Okay, the AFL-CIO event, can I just ask one thing -- is it at the White House tomorrow?"
Now, while it's true the NYT hasn't confirmed this information or any other news source, the Nation is a magazine with very close ties to the Obama administration. In fact, one of Obama's legal counsel is married to Chris Hayes at the Nation.
So this information is likely to be verified shortly and there will be a rose garden ceremony before next week.
