This will be short.
The execrable Terry Jones has brought an issue to a head on which I think we all need a little refresher.
Please step inside.
New Rule: Don't do to or say anything about another's religion or their Holy writings that you wouldn't say or do to the same person's mother.
Not every mother is a good mother (Mom's I know you are doing a great job, but you know some who aren't). I know this will sound bad, my Mom was not a good Mom the details are not important. What is important is that there was a time in my life when if you dissed my mother you could expect to find yourself lying down spitting out teeth. No one disses my mother, sounds kind of emotional doesn't it. For believers of the dominate world religions dissing their religion or the holy writings is no less of an emotional issue.
With a few special exceptions we defend free speech ahead of almost anything. You can't shout fire in a Theater because of the risk of injury to patrons.
What Terry Jones wants to do is the equivalent of shouting fire into a public address system hooked into every media outlet in the world.
In fact it is worse than that because the media have already picked up the narrative. The damage is still being done whether he burns the Holy Koran or not. Keep in mind that nuance is lost in translation so reporting that Terry Jones threatened to do what he threatened to do morphs easily into what Americans did to the Holy Koran.
Terry Jones is a disgrace to his ordination (if he was ever ordained.) and by all accounts is a miserable excuse for a human being.
As always you must give respect if you expect to receive respect, this message seems to be lost on Terry Jones and his kind.
