This election is just sad. Maybe it's time to stop letting the Tea Party dictate the conversation about this election. How can you change that? How 'bout starting to tell a story of your own.
I have money to give to Democratic candidates for this election. This is a message for the top Brass about how to get my money. If you want to get some, here's what you're going to do.
First, the problem with the last two years is that the Democrats didn't go far enough. They couldn't go far enough because the Republicans said no. Even with the Republicans stonewalling, we had a historic two years.
That's the subtext, but it's not the message.
You have to lay out what you're going to do if you win more seats than you have now. Yes, you heard me, I want you to start telling me what you would do if you had more seats than you have right now. That's what I want to hear you talking about.
Don't make excuses, just make it happen.
- Let's pass a bigger stimulus and get people back to work. The last one was too small because the Republicans wouldn't let it be bigger.
- Let's get a strong public option for health care. We compromised it away because it's the most we could get in the face of Republican opposition, but we want more.
- Forget about a stupid compromise on the Bush tax cuts. Let's increase the marginal tax rate by 5% on everyone who makes more than $500k a year, and let's cut the payroll taxes on the first $10k that everyone makes. This will reduce the tax burden on the poor, shift the burden to the rich where it belongs, and stimulate economic growth. Let's rebuild the middle class. We can't do that with so many Republicans in the Senate and House just saying no.
- Green jobs, green energy, green investments. Let's get an energy policy that makes sense and cut greenhouse emissions for the long-term. We can't do that with so many Republicans in the Senate and House just saying no.
It's not hard. You can see how it's done.
You want matching money for donations? You want my money to go to your candidates?
