So, we have about 47 days left before the election, and I am curious to konw your thoughts about what sort of ads Democrats should be running in the weeks ahead. If I have my finger on the nation's pulse, I'd say that people are finally beginning to pay attention and that, the more they see of Boehner, McConnell, O'Donnell, McDonnell, Dement, Palin and Gingrich, the more likely they'll vote for a Democrat -- people really aren't stupid. I also think that most people aren't aware of the good things that have happened since the bad old days of January 2009. So here's what I'd like to see:
First ad: a voter (man/woman/black/white/young/old -- whatever) standing in line to vote. He/she enters the booth; the camera shows the portion of the ballot showing the words "Democrat" and "Republican". The voter's hand hovers over the lever/button to vote Republican, and as he/she is about to vote for the GOP, a series of images -- W Bush, Iraq, Abu Gharab, Lehman Bros., Stock Market, Foreclosure signs, Palin, Gingrich, etc. -- floods past with increasing speed, the music getting louder and more urgent with each image. The images and music stop suddenly, and we see the voter's hand pause, and then decisively turn the "Democrat" lever. The screen goes blank and the words "Do the right thing" appear and dim, and then another screen says "Vote Democratic". End of ad.
Second ad: Start with a teacher in school and the voiceover says "This is the teacher who kept her job because of teh Democrats' funding"; then the teacher visits a store, and the voiceover says "this is the store owner, whose shop stayed open, because the teacher kept her job, because of the Democrats' funding.", and then the store owner visits an auto dealer, and the voiceover says "this is the dealer, who ordered a car for the shop owner, whose shop stayed open because the teacher kept her job,..." etc. You see where this goes. The point is that you could use this format to make the point that Americans of all walks of life, all across the country, have been saved because the Democrats made hard choices and did the right things, and they deserve the chance to keep doing it.
Anyway, those are my thoughts -- what would you like to see to help turn the tide for the November election? Emphasis on good humor and a positive message (okay, maybe my first suggestion violated that rule!) And if there are any Democratic ad folks watching -- feel free to borrow any ideas that are submitted!
