A new Rasmussen poll shows the Florida's Governor race to be a virtual tie. Without leaners, teabagger Republican Rick Scott leads Democrat Alex Sink 45 to 44. With leaners, Sink leads Scott 48 to 47. (Rasmussen uses the "without leaners" as his headline numbers, although he notes in the article that after Labor Day he will be using the "with leaners.")
This is the first poll since independent Bud Chiles dropped out and endorsed Sink. Rasmussen's previous poll, taken last week just after Scott's primary victory, showed Scott leading Sink 41 to 36.
I don't even have to begin to tell fellow Floridians how critical this race is. Rick Scott is not only a truly dangerous Tea Party conservative, but was in charge of Columbia/HCA, a health care company that was forced to pay $1.7 billion in fines for fraud (as he was forced out by his own board of directors). He led the charge against health care reform last year, working with the same public relations firm that brought us the original Swift Boaters. Commenters can share their own personal thoughts about what is most frightening about Scott below.
With both houses of the state legislature dominated by Republicans, and the state budget likely again to be in tremendous strain this coming spring (with the BP induced decline in tourism exacerbating the loss of tax revenue and stimulus dollars running out), we desperately need a Democrat like Alex Sink in Tallahassee.
Alex Sink for Governor.
