"All Buttoned Up"
This is the quilt that was signed at Yearly Kos, 2007, in Chicago. It is a snapshot of who we, the progressive bloggers, were then. The list of signatures is below the fold. This quilt could be yours!
For the month of October, people donating $10 or more to the quilt fundraiser Act Blue page for Jerry Brown will receive a chance in a drawing for this quilt. One chance per person per day will be counted. OR, people not donating can enter by sending a 50 word or less essay to communityquilts (at) yahoo (dot) com -- and one chance will be counted per essay person per day. Sound like fun? You can also help by posting quilt diaries...
Thanks to linkage, the Democratic Clubs around the State of California will be made aware of this drawing. We hope to make a big splash!

More about the quilt -- it was strip pieced on paper (the paper removed when the quilt top was assembled). One side of each block has pastel, reproduction prints from the 1930s. The other side is made of bright, contemporary prints. The quilt was made with a fine cotton batting, pieced by me and my sister, and hand quilted by me. 59" square, it is sleeved for hanging on a wall. It would look great on your wall. Wouldn't it look great on your wall?
These are the signatures, by block number. Perhaps you are on the quilt? Take a look...

Again, the drawing period is every day in October. The actual drawing will be done within the week after -- November 1 if possible.
Would you like to help by posting a quilt diary in October? I will send you the code for my October 1 diary which will have all the pictures, the signature list, the rules, and the Act Blue thermometer in it -- and you can use it as the basis for your diary. Linkage or I will write to you beforehand to remind you when you are posting in case you are afraid of forgetting.
One other thing, the star quilt drawing was made more interesting by the offer of one-day-only mini drawings. People offered prizes to spur the donations (and essays) on a given day. These prizes were very different from one another -- dinner with Meteor Blades or navajo, a special print of one of rserven's art pieces, a case of Kitsap River's chocolate blackberry jam, a hand dyed silk scarf by Chun Yang, a silver pendant made by Aji's husband, Wings... Think on this, and if you have a prize to offer, it would be great.
I really hope this last quilt drawing will be a great success. We'll be setting $10,000 as our initial goal -- but maybe we can double that!
