50% alarmist (redState) anti-Dems & 50% analytical progressives...
Every few evenings when I come here and I check the DK diaries, I see about 2 pro-administration diaries and 2 anti-administration diaries in the rec list. The anti-admin diaries are so over the top emotional and uebercritical of the administration that it is sickening and the pro-admin diaries are a sometimes too nice and cheerful, but you absolutely NEED them to give some balance to this schizophrenic site.
From the rethoric in the anti-admin diaries, it is easy to see that among the emotional responses there are several coming from infiltrated redstaters savoring the opportunity to cause discord among progressives:
Conservatives and Libertarians Infiltrating Daily Kos
Daily Kos has always had a schozophrenic personality. There were the Dean versus the Kerry supporters. The Hillary versus Obama supporters. Now, the anti-Obama versus the pro-Obama crowd. It is two sites in one. And I have two problems with this:
(1) I have always only liked one of the personalities not the other and most often the one with the more calm allure, but I can't find another blog that discusses politics in the US from a progressive stand-point, but without all the drama, and instead with all the background and historical precedents. If you find one for me, I will gladly sing you my swan song.
(2) The second problem I have is that I am sure redStaters post here and hijack the anti-administration diaries by recommending them as seen recently in the above cited diary, but I am sure no progressives go to redState. It is a one way street.
Well, I for one would not mind if this blog becomes redState II if I had an alternative to it, but I have been told that mydd and all the other lefty blogs are worse than DK.
And I wonder, is this what real progressives want? To have a blog where tea baggers and redStaters can join forces with the disgruntled lefty bloggers?
I guess so.
But if someone can lead me to another progressive blog with in depth analysis of the political situation, with pros and cons of every action by the adminstration - not just the cons and not just the pros - and all imbued with optimism or alternative "feasible" solutions and new good ideas to move a progressive agenda forward - I will be glad to leave and allow DK to become less schizophrenic since perhaps other very lefty progressives like me with a critical but patient mind may also say goodbye.
Just tell me where to go. Meanwhile I stay here and try to endure the narrative of the other 50%.
