And round and round they go...
The way it works is that the cable news networks yak 24/7, stoking the flames of passion, hatred, and whatever else you want to attribute to them. Then Congresswoman Giffords and others are gunned down. So the cable news networks start shouting 24/7 about whose shouting is to blame for the horrible event in Tuscon.
See how it works?
Do yourself a favor and just shut them all off. It doesn't matter if it's Keith, Rachel, Glenn Beck, or Bill O'Reilly. They are all in the same game, just different sides.
I am not saying that Keith and Rachel are irresponsible like the wacko's on Fox are. What I am saying is that Keith and Rachel feed the same fire as the nut jobs do. When Keith demands an apology from Glenn Beck, do you really think he means "please apologize"? Of course he doesn't. What he means is that Glenn Beck is partially responsible for the Tuscon massacre and here is one in your eye. Glenn Beck is partially responsible, but pushing him for an apology isn't going to stop Beck's incendiary rhetoric, it's only going to provoke him to more insane and possibly dangerous rantings.
What the cable news networks end up doing is covering each other's shouting.
You do what you want. I had my cable removed during the summer and I am a happier person for it. I still get C-Span and public TV. That's all I need. If I really want to watch Keith or Rachel once in a while, I do it on the net.
p.s. Same goes for talk radio. I don't need it. I don't listen to it. If I want sane news, I turn on NPR. They've got great coverage of the news, not the shouting.
p.s.s. And don't forget the daily newspapers. I get home delivery still, but there are plenty of great news sources online.
