Please, contribute $10 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, and help get the recall effort off the ground.
The ultimate test of any political movement is whether, on Election Day, that movement can defeat the politicians who crossed it. In order to get elected officials, beltway media, organizational leaders and other decision makers to take you seriously, the specter of electoral defeat is the only iron-clad, 100%-effective method.
As such, the Wisconsin recall campaign will determine whether the new progressive awakening of the last three weeks will be taken seriously. Either we win the recall campaigns and create a viable counter to the right-wing forces of austerity and inequality, or we lose the recall campaigns and remain dirty effin' hippies relegated to the political sidelines.
This may sound dramatic, but it's the truth. The outcome of these recall campaigns will largely determine whether those who make policy decisions believe there is any political price to pay for gutting the middle class. So even beyond the rights of tens of thousands of public workers in Wisconsin, Ohio and elsewhere, the stakes in the Wisconsin recall campaign are very high.
If you have not done so already, please contribute $10 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin. The DPW is leading the effort to gather signatures to make the recall elections take place. If we do not complete even this first crucial step in winning the recall elections, then all of our efforts over these past three weeks will largely be for naught.
Please, contribute $10 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, and let's get the recall effort off the ground.
