...but I wasn't treated there.
I've been off my medications for about 2 months now. The big, important ones are inexpensive scripts, even without insurance, but without a doctor to prescribe them, and not insurance to pay for a visit, I can't get my thyroid replacement medication or my anti-inflammatory medication.
My landlady has noticed that I'm dragging a bit lately, and told us about a Free Clinic in the neighboring town. I looked up their website, and it said that as long as you had no insurance, they would see you. It also stated that they managed chronic conditions. It looked like there was help available.
We showed up on time, on one of the two days they were open. My spouse signed us in...and they asked her about my health issues (I was in the waiting room). When they heard that one of my diagnosis is PTSD, they declined to see me, even before they spoke with me.
They did refer me to a practice that may be willing to see me, but I have no insurance. We barely have enough money to cover rent (thankfully, all utilities are included, even internet). I am still without the medication I need to control my thyroid disorder.
All because I also have PTSD. The worst of it is, they didn't even feel the need to talk to me before they refused to see me.
