I’ve been so disgusted with what I’ve seen over the past several months that the last thing I wanted to do was even think about how foolish our government has acted! I just can’t take it anymore. The only comparison I can come up with is “The Three Stooges”, which were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. It was pure slapstick. You didn’t have to think about it! In the midst of the worst crisis since the Great Depression, we get a comedy act!
The three principals of the act consisted of “Moe” (Moe Howard), “Larry” (Larry Fine) and “Curley” (Curley Howard). Moe and Curley were brothers. Their act consisted of Moe battering Curley while Larry watched and whenever he tried to interfere, Moe would clobber him. There was nothing sophisticated in their act, which is similar to Washington D.C. at the moment. Let’s see……who’s who? It’s obvious who Moe is. The Republican Party is playing that role. Of course, they’ve played it before and have done so very well in the past, but very subtle. They were so good at this role, even the Democrats didn’t realize that they were getting the crap kicked out of them. As a minority party, the Republicans have dominated the House, Senate and the White House. With the addition of the Tea Party, they grew even thirstier for blood. It was anger that started this movement, anger at the government, the economy mixed in with “social conservatism.” I don’t know who embraced whom but they established the platform for the new Republican Party. And with it, meet “Moe,” who is never wrong and always wants things his way and is ready to beat anyone over the head to get it.
It’s not a brainteaser to figure out that “Curley” is the Democratic Party. Scatterbrained and incompetent, he continually walks into the pitfalls set up by the Republicans. No matter what he does, it will never satisfy “Moe” who continually beats him over the head. This is nothing new. The last Democratic President who had any balls was Lyndon Johnson. Whether you liked him or hated him, he got what he wanted. Since then, the Democrats have been the fall guys for the Republican Party. They have become a collection of whiners and wimps. Only President Clinton saw the light and became one of the best Republican Presidents we’ve had in his second term. No other President, other than Bush opened more doors for corporate America and Wall Street. That leaves us with Larry, the onlooker. Meet President Obama. Even when he tries to meet “Moe” more than half way, he gets his head bashed in and runs back for cover. President Obama may well have the nation’s best interest at heart, but he doesn’t have a clue so far how to run the Executive Branch of our government. Perhaps we shouldn’t elect members of the “intelligencia” as the last one we elected was Woodrow Wilson, and he was probably the worst President on the Twentieth Century. That’s right, he beats out Jimmy Carter!
We cannot afford the continued slapstick comedy that persists in Washington! The Republicans have got to place the nation ahead of the party and come up with some ideas for getting us out of this Depression. I’ve yet to hear anything from the Right other then “No” , the budget deficit. and the same old crap about the “trickle down” effect for employment. The only “trickle down” effect is the experience they have and why they are wearing Depends! Let the nation decide who will win in 2012 by who did what! The Democrats have to try to get their shit together, something that they haven’t been able to do in over 40 years. First, they have to stand up to the Republicans and lay out a plan for job growth, as we will never get out of this mess until we solve the unemployment problem. President Obama finally has to lead his Party by example, if necessary and present an actual plan, written down and present it not only to the American people, but also to both the House and Senate. We’re going to find out in a few days what his “great” proposal is for job creation. If he doesn’t reach for the sky, he can say “goodbye” to a Second Term. He has nothing to loose and everything to gain. When you ask for the entire cake, you might get a bigger piece that you would have received had you not asked for it. The government alone cannot create jobs. History has told us that Roosevelt’s “New Deal” did not get us out the Depression. It was World War II. We are presently in a war in which we should “declare victory” and come home, just like everyone from Alexander The Great to Great Britain. We need the government to focus on programs, which, through tax incentives and planning, will encourage the banks and Corporate America to loosen their coffers and invest in America. We may not have WW II but we do have a battle to bring our infrastructure into the Twentieth Century. If not, the “Three Stooges” act will continue, and we’ll be the butt of the jokes!
