UPDATE: The tweet referenced below is actually a retweet from Charles Johnson of Little Green Footballs. It does not refer to the original Dupnik news conference. The tweet was sent about 330pm ET and then retweeeted by Moulitsas. LFG ran a story this morning on the right-wing attacking Dupnik.
A lack of information -- or even worse -- gettting the facts wrong -- is not good for anyone. That's why I've spent the morning trying to get in touch with Markos about something that he's getting wrong -- and it's just not helping the liberal cause.
I’ll get hell for this from my liberal brethren. Whatever you think about Sheriff Dupnik and his remarks — he has absolutely called out the Republican/Conservatives by name. He specifically mentioned the rhetoric of Sarah Palin and Sharron Angle.
However, as the noise machine works, liberals are blogging all over the place that he never really took sides. This tweet this morning from Markos:
Anyone noticed that Sheriff Dupnik never specifically mentioned right wing? They're all just assuming he's talking about them
Here is irrefutable evidence that he is wrong:
I have tried to get Moulitsas’ attention — but he’s just too busy tweeting. Perhaps, he should read a little more and tweet a little less.
That’s part of the problem. There are a few who seem to control the debate. Little ol Tony Gatto can hardly get a word in edgewise. I shouldn’t be shocked. The facts are just not as important as they used to be in "journalism".
And then Moulitsas tells his followers to see this blog post – which derides Dupnik (fine) — but they, too, just don’t have the facts. Dupnik made his remarks more than 24 hours ago — so it’s not like the information is not out there.
Markos — you are not helping the liberal cause — if you report without facts.
