Okay, here's the deal. I'm really sick of hearing the bullshit that Sarah Palin spews forth each day. Many of those days I'm reminded of her worthless vitriol by blog entries on DK. But I'm really starting to ask myself why this might be.
I guess it has something to do with the fact that her face and voice are just about unavoidable these days. And clearly millions of Republicans and Teabaggers hang on her every word. The first amendment guarantees her right to spew bullshit.
But does it really have to be this way? Do we, on DK, really have to be part of the echo chamber? Do we have to provide her with a platform to exercise her rights under the first amendment?
Actually, no, we don't. She doesn't tell us anything new. She provides no intelligent argument for the conservative way of thought. She doesn't advance the cause of discussion and well-intentioned debate. So why do we bother reporting what she says?
Is it for the ease of deflecting her arguments? Is it the low-hanging fruit of political discussion? If so, we can do better.
I propose that tomorrow, January 19, 2011 be declared a Day Without Sarah Palin on the Daily Kos. Maybe extending it would be a great idea as well. Anybody want to agree to participate in this?
