It's pretty clear that South Carolina's newly-inaugurated Governor Nikki Haley is reading from the G.W.Bush/Karl Rove/Dick Cheney playbook. You know, the part that reads something like "rake in special interest donations, make sure their input is taken into account when you make Cabinet and other high-level appointments after you're elected, then keep raking in donations from those special interests as a 'thank you' for making sure they'll be taken care of while you're in office."
In today's Myrtle Beach Sun/News, the story atop the front page (need I mention how few eyes even see a Saturday paper?) delves into Mrs. Nikki's continual fundraising, with her special interests continuing to gift her while she continues to gift them in kind. The story's HERE
My favorite part?
The donations have no impact on Haley's policies or priorities, said spokesman Rob Godfrey. "Of course not."
...of course not.
It'd be nice to see a Democrat in the Statehouse draft legislation to eliminate this sort of fundraising by a sitting elected official until their re-election is announced and made official, would it not?
