Keith Olbermann should be able to broadcast on nightly network news! It is crazy in my strong opinion, that within a series of days after the approval of the Comcast/NBC Universal merger that Keith was exited out the door at MSNBC that never reopens.
Well, I am a small voice but willing to take up this fight to get K.O. back on network Television, Internet or even the radio for that manner. We need Keith's brand of delivering news back NOW!
Yes, I am passionate and a little angry but this is an important cause. Some might not agree with K.O.'s commentary but to allege that he did not report the facts would be a falsehood.
Sen. Bernie Sanders warned that this would be the end result of Comcast/NBC Universal so-called 'merger'. Also, I am assuming that K.O. might have caught the winds of change to come, shortly after the suspension in November 2010. Either way, it does not make the final action right for his fans of the program.
So, I was thinking last night, what can I do? Seriously....this was on my mind all night. Now, I know that Keith does not know me from a stranger in the street but, as a regular fixture in my living room during the supper hour, maybe slightly the feeling that I know a part of his passion is not too far off the cliff.
My opinion is that Keith cares about the issues progressives, moderates and some independents alike, share a deep conviction for.
-Helping those who cannot assist themselves
-Fighting corporations taking over our livelihood
-Bring decent wages back to America
-Believe that health care is a right for all citizens, not a privilege for few
-Standing behind the strength in Union Membership, nationwide
-Supporting political candidates who advocate for issues of the poorest of the poor, lower and middle class Americans
-Keeping our soldiers out of unnecessary war
-Controlling our nations' growing debt
-Ending up to 30 Million job seekers nightmare and returning them back to work in our society
-Protecting our environment
Now, if you were to describe my political beliefs, I would fall into the category of Independent. Regardless, the issues above are of I learned over the eight years of watching Olbermann's former program were important to me and he used his broadcast as a tool to make them just as important to all Americans.
Some disagreed with his style. In America, we have the right to disagree. What we should not do is abruptly silence views that lineup not directly with our own.
Fox News is not a staple in my home but, I would stand up for their right to broadcast their form of commentary to individuals that enjoy it. Keith should have the same right.
That lead to an idea. Call it a passion, if you prefer....to have CNN (or another resource) Hire Keith Olbermann A.S.A.P. First, I formed a Facebook fan page for the effort. Another great FB friend of mines helped me greatly with getting the word out. It is small but growing. Either way, we will not give up!
Next, was press release announcing the page. Here is a couple of blockquotes from the article:
Fans of Keith Olbermann, shocked by his swift resignation on Friday, January 21st during MSNBC's Countdown program, form a Facebook fan page campaign, encouraging rival cable news network CNN to hire the anchor.
On Friday, November 5, 2010, Olbermann was 'Indefinitely Suspended' by MSNBC's President Phil Griffin due to monetary campaign donations. Supporters of Olbermann, including the grassroots group BoldProgressives.Org, hip-hop executive producer Russell Simmons, the Daily Kos blog and a large number of fans, joined in campaign to end the suspension immediately.
Efforts to immediately place Olbermann back on to MSNBC's prime-time line up were quickly successful as the network prime-time anchor was returned to the program on Monday, November 8, 2010.
"It is obviously that Comcast, NBC Universal, MSNBC do not appreciate the insightful, informative and professional news program that Mr. Olbermann provided", CNN Hire Keith Olbermann ASAP Facebook fan page Lead Moderator Monica Ross-Williams stated.
"Mr. Olbermann is the Edward R. Morrow of our generation. If MSNBC cannot appreciate his talent, another network . We are ready to put up a fight to get Olbermann back on broadcast television news, quickly. Let the marketplace decide Keith's value to his viewers”, Ross-Williams stated.
On January 21st, Ross-Williams along with two additional moderators formed the Facebook fan page. Since prior fan rallying efforts were successful, she strong feels that this campaign have a similar result.
"It does not manner how long it takes, we are in this for the long-term, if need be", she stated. "We need progressive voices like Olbermann on television, period".
My small request to Daily Kos fans that are interested, is to support my small effort to get Keith back to work!
