I've admired the Pittsburgh Steelers ever since crazy Terry Bradshaw propelled the team from last place in 1969 to the team's first Central Division Championship in 1972. He led the team to four Super Bowl wins in 1974, 1975, 1979, and 1980.
This year when I started paying attention to the NFL I took a shine to QB Mark Sanchez and the Jets. Then they got hammered by the New England Patriots by 42 points.
The Jets tried to throw off that humiliation with tough talk beginning with coach Rex Ryan, who seems to live like every game could be his last . In their next meeting with the Pats they backed up their smack talk and shut down Tom Brady's offense for a commanding win. I believe Brady was sacked five times. Mark Sanchez is a young QB with impressive poise, judgement, and accuracy.
Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger- Big Ben- is a horse of a man with time proven cool to stand in the pocket and deliver the goods.
No time to go into the threats posed by other players.
I think that the weather is going to affect the Steelers passing game more than the other team's, so I'm taking the Jets.
I admire dangerous trash talk before a game, a Jets tradition that originated with QB Joe Namath, who correctly called a Jets win in Super Bowl III in 1969. Joe predicts a Jets win today.
In this AFC championship the betting line is around -4 Pittsburgh, meaning, they have to beat the Jets by five to give Steelers betters a payday.
Look at the stats.
Defensively on yards per rush, the disparity favors Pittsburgh by .6.
The better team at stopping the air attack according to passing yards per completion is the Pittsburgh Steelers by 2.4.
Yards per point dictates the shrewder defense belongs to Pittsburgh forcing 2.1.
In net turnovers, the preeminence is also the hometown Steelers by eight.
