Even as we exchange electrons here, the Iowa Senate is conducting hearings on the new Republican Iowa House's bill to allow a citizen referendum on amending the state constitution to overthrow same sex marriage and forbid civil unions of any kind.
Yep, the nuts are out.

The gays cost Iowa a congressional seat. I wonder what else they are up to?

Disclaimer: Things are serious, here, BTW, folks. The head of the state republican party recently called the State Supreme Court Justices who found same sex marriage constitutional "enemies of God." It's deadly serious, even as it is tragically comic. The consequences, of course, can be only be devastating.

Dawn BarbaRouske and her wife Jen of Iowa City have been together for more than 20 years are two of the people who were part of the lawsuit that ultimately led to the 2009 Iowa Supreme Court decision that overturned Iowa’s one-man, one-woman marriage law.
The couple has two daughters. . . .
"Our hearts break as our youngest asks if we will still be married now that some people fiercely trying to erase our family," BarbaRouske said.
