CNN, and especially Fox, are quick to try to distance nut-job Jared Loughton, Tuscon shooter from the Tea Party. They like the line "let's not make this political".
Well it is political because the party that incites the kind of frothing violence inducing anger is the Tea Party, a la Sarah and Michelle. These crazies are worked up. Check out the Renaissance Party website, the vigilante's party's website. The Tea Party couldn't be more prominent, their characteristic "Bite-me" is in the top left hand corner and except for the creative anti-semitic twist, is pure tea party government-hatin' rhetoric.
What will ensue now is right wing talking heads on cable news looking sympathetic and contrite with a short hiatus on mean spirited hateful vengeful diatribe (one week off for "good behavior"), and the toddler vitreole will continue. Why? Because they are primitive angry five year olds and when they get the crazies going (like at "Town Meetings" with weapons)-THEY LOVE IT.
It will be nauseating today to listen to these hypocrites talk about the need for civility when they have been bringing these one- celled amoeba thinkers to this precapace of violence since the election of Barack Obama. I think the plan, and it really is working, is to make democrats actually afraid to run and take office in highly disputed races with a high proportion of the easily incited combustible impulse control deficited. These people are reactive, dangerous, and easily influenced. The use of a map with crosshairs was not subtle to them, the fact that they all own guns gives them motive and a weapon.
And heres another point-even if this person is "unbalanced" (the media's favorite term, though meaningless in the mental health venacular), the elements of psychotic mental illness (like schizophrenia) that lend themselves to paranoid, psychotic delusions, fit nicely into the anti-government, paranoid-big brother is out to get you, elements of extreme right wing). In terms of origins of these kinds of thoughts-they share ALOT. I would expect that if you did an analysis of alot of the Tea Party recruitment tools you would find a good deal of paranoia and primitive thinking- ("I don't want to pay taxes, and no one-government is going to tell me what to do-have guns..school my children...) Alot of similaries.
