Western New England University (PDF). 9/29-10/5. Registered voters. MoE ±4.5% (3/6-10 results):
Elizabeth Warren (D): 42 (34)
Scott Brown (R-inc): 47 (51)
Alan Khazei (D): 35
Scott Brown (R-inc): 52
As with their March poll, Western New England University (previously known as Western New England College) has an almost absurdly independent-heavy sample, at 30 D, 12 R and 51 I. (The 2008 exit polls had it at 43-17-40, by contrast). But WNEU does manage to get two things "right," assuming you believe recent polls from Public Policy Polling and Princeton Survey Research. One is that they show Elizabeth Warren trending sharply upward, and the second is that they show a tight race between her and Scott Brown. Three examples are enough for a New York Times trend piece, right?
At this juncture, the real interesting numbers will be Warren's third-quarter fundraising tally. She hasn't pre-announced her haul yet (which itself is a bit surprising to me), but the filing deadline is Oct. 15, so we'll know by then. Any guesses as to what her take will be?
11:08 AM PT: Guessing game's over! Elizabeth Warren just shot out an email with her fundraising total: $3.15 million!
