Big get for Mitt Romney:
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will make a surprise appearance Tuesday to endorse Mitt Romney for president, a week after Christie said he would not be running.
Christie is planning a joint press conference with the former Massachusetts governor at 3 p.m. in New Hampshire, NBC News has learned.
By the way, let history reflect the fact that Chris Christie is offering his endorsement on the same day that a poll came out showing Mitt Romney with the support of 44 percent of New Hampshire Republicans. Romney's nearest competitors are tied at 13 percent each. To be clear, I'm not saying Mitt Romney can't use Chris Christie's help. All I'm saying is that that if Mitt Romney doesn't get at least 44 percent in New Hampshire primary, Christie's endorsement might not end up looking so big after all.
