Some will say this is too short to be a Diary but in a town where a "Bumper Sticker beats an Essay" that should not be a problem
I looked all over, albeit quickly, to see if someone had posted on this but I should have known better.
Although they studiously avoided using the word, Rachel had a Harvard Professor on her show last night who has written a book apparantly comparing the current dysfunctional Congress to a drunk who cannot bring himself to seek help to break his habit.
The Professor, can't recall his name, concludes that the only way to cure this problem is to invoke an unmentioned section of the Constitution that provides a way for the People themselves to offer up amendments to the Constitution when they are clearly needed but just as clearly, will not be forthcoming from the drunken Congress that feels no need to cure its habit.
The habit to be broken in this case is the habit of living off private contributions to fund everything from their lavish life styles to actual campaigns.
Of course this arrangement makes them totally beholden to those making the contributions instead of being beholden to the common good.
Since they won't change the Constitution so that this practice is abolished the people themselves must do it and the only way for that to happen - peacefully - is to convene an Article V Convention.
It is high time this Blog got behind this movement.
The alternative is unthinkable.
