If you declare a revolution on the outside, but do not experience a revolution in consciousness, what ends happening is that in time, nothing fundamentally changes. Anyone who knows me has heard this a zillion times by now - INWARD REVOLUTION CREATES OUTWARD REVOLUTION. This is true at the level of individual consciousness as well as at the level of collective consciousness.
So when we look at the "Arab Spring" and see that these monstrous leaders have been removed, this is of course cause for great celebration. However, the new Libyan regime of the moment wants to use the Sharia (Islamic Law) as it's law. Sharia Law, as practiced in most (but not all) majority Muslim countries includes punishing women for being raped, either by lashings or sometimes even by death from stoning. Women are second-class citizens in Islam. The Koran is full of contradictions, but if you discuss this with an Islamic leader, they will likely try to reassure you by quoting the peaceful scriptures while leaving out the violent ones. Although probably most of the 1.5 billion Muslims in the world today are peaceful people, the political system/theology called Islam has demonstrated over the past 14 centuries that Islam is most definitely not a "religion of peace".
Jihad, which has always been a cornerstone of Islam and is how it has spread for the past 14 centuries, literally means exactly the same thing that "Mein Kompf" means - my struggle.
Although Jihad has an inward spiritual component to it, there is also a very clear history of warfare, violence, torture, forced amputations, etc. This type of Jihad and terrorism are practically synonymous. The slave owner Mohamed did all of those things - commit murder, order executions, brutal torture, ordering that Jews and Christians be targeted as enemies of Allah, etc. - and he is thought to be, in Islam, the ideal man.
By the way, Mohamed, this "ideal man" also married a 6 year old girl. There are numerous Islamic texts which state that he consummated this marriage when the child was 9 years old. Incidents of forced marriages and child brides run rampant throughout much of the Islamic world, as do forced female genital mutilation. Ironically, in many of the Liberal circles here in America, much of what I have said thus far will not be taken as a genuine concern for human rights abuses, but rather will quickly be labeled as "Islamophobia". Keep in mind that a phobia is an irrational fear. I do not have fear about this and the facts are not irrational. I bring up the history and present state of Islam in the world to make a larger point about what constitutes a real, deep and lasting revolution.
So the violent leaders of a few Islamic countries have been removed. Do we need a crystal ball to tell us whether or not this constitutes a real revolution? As long as that region of the world adheres to a political/religious system that is that is rooted in violence, hatred for Jews and a mandate to spread it's sick theology to all parts of the world, we can see that very little has changed here so far. All of that said, I still feel it is possible for large portions of the population to snap out of it. The future of this planet depends on it.
Peace,
