ThinkProgress reports that in 2004 and 2006 Herman Cain lent his voice and his money to a series of ads run on black radio stations that accused Democrats of wanting to kill black babies and linking them to ex-KKK leader David Duke. The controversial ads were disavowed by the Bush administration and the RNC at the time.
This is just a short diary to call attention to a short note on ThinkProgress. Tanya Somanader reports that Cain served as spokesman for America's PAC, which produced a series of ads
The group spent millions during the 2004 and 2006 election to run political ads on black radio stations — one of which suggested that Democrats wanted to kill “black babies.” Another ad links Democrats to the “Ku Klux Klan cracker” David Duke.
The ThinkProgress report links to a Rightwing Watch report that Cain did more than serve a spokesman - and narrator of some ads:
But, as Right Wing Watch reports, Cain went further then lending his voice. He lent his own money — $1 million worth — to persuade African Americans to vote Republican in the 2006 election with these racially-charged ads.
TP offers a recording of an offensive ad said to be narrated by Cain.
I have no independent evidence for these accusations, but I wonder if they will get any attention from the main stream media.
