The Madoffs and Suicide

   Madoff's wife, Ruth, in an interview on CNN (http://money.cnn.com/...) divulged that she an Bernie Madoff had attempted suicide, but had failed as there was no money in it.  In a remarkable series of interviews Madoff family members are attempting to paint themselves as victims of the scam engineered by Bernie Madoff and claim that none of them had any involvement (http://news.yahoo.com/...).  While self-promotion as an obvious possible motive for these surprising events and frank exposure of family details, the moneymaking potential is also there while the political aspect, to make even blatant criminals like Madoff appear human or members of the family who participated in the fruits of his labor as innocent should not surprise Americans familiar with every kind of TV survivor show or shows where people try to profit from their either stupidity or cruel treatment of others.
