Elizabeth Warren (Reuters/Kevin Lamarque)
Republicans can't refer to Elizabeth Warren without throwing in the words "Harvard professor," because apparently, they're convinced people in Massachusetts hate a university that also happens to be located in Massachusetts. (See
here,
here and
here for some examples.)
Reality:
Elizabeth Warren currently teaches at Harvard Law School. Does Warren’s employment as a Harvard professor make you more likely to vote for her for the Senate, less likely to vote for her for the Senate, or does it make no difference?
More likely to vote for Warren: 21
Less likely to vote for Warren: 13
Makes no difference: 63
Now Republicans may be allergic to education, and perhaps the "Harvard" brand is poison in places like Alabama, but why would they think Massachusetts voters would recoil from a top university they are proud to host?
But hopefully they keep it up. As the polling shows, it's actually helping the good guys.
