Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water, Cindy Sheehan (who one might think of as a godmother of OWS, due to her occupation near Bush's ranch, demanding an answer to her question “For what noble purpose was my son, Casey, sent to die in Iraq?”) announces that she is heading to OWS. I'm thinking she's going to get a hero's welcome!
Dear Friend,
A very generous supporter donated enough money to buy me a round trip plane ticket from California to NYC, so I can go there and report first hand for the Soapbox!
I am also very interested in sharing my book, Myth America: 20 Greatest Myths of the Robber Class and the Case for Revolution, that calls for class consciousness to go hand and hand with a people based, non-violent revolution that can overthrow this greed-based, capitalistic, violent system, but also supporting ourselves and our communities. I believe it is imperative that the OWS movement not be about partisan politics or used to "elect Democrats" like the antiwar movement was used in 2005-2006. Obviously, Democrats are not friends of peace, or the workers.
And even though, I have seen an antiwar message, the only way social justice, environmental sustainability, and economic equality can even have a chance to happen is through PEACE!
