FULL TEXT:
Dear President Obama,
Millions of Americans still believe in you and your vision of Hope and Change that led to the "Yes We Can" Movement that elected you as President in 2008 to reform a system that allows multinational interests to rape of our great nation of our blood and treasure for their personal gain. We’re at a crossroads in that battle and this letter explains why we need your help.
Many of those Americans, including myself, worked tirelessly direct or indirectly on your behalf during the campaign for many hours without pay or without enough pay to feed a family despite the millions spent on methods like television advertising that pale in comparison to the relationship-building we often did with voters, volunteers and other supporters both offline and online to spread your message.
Since then, a strong but smaller number of us, including myself, have continue to organized our own communities either directly or indirectly on the behalf of your vision. My community of mostly young supporters called Network For Progress continues to promote that vision with a primary focus on the relationship-building that truly helped create your movement.
That is because many of us are disappointed that you didn't lead the Democratic Party toward sufficiently fostering our idealistic grassroots army of "Hope Mongers" and instead allowed the powers that be muddle our message often via the communication of fundraising spam to "followers" instead of focusing their energy on demonstrating moral clarity via a collaborative dialogue with a unified and inclusive community of team members.
And as a result, the people you largely inspired have been subjected to an unprecedented attack on their futures because of the undaunted political rise of "The 1%" who abuse power in our democracy and have thwarted the progress our country so desperately needs with the complicity of corrupt or politically-weakened legislators.
I'm sure that you would even recognize that your message and outreach has lacked the viral touch that can help bolster the political conviction that brought you to the White House and that has contributed to our current crisis.
So, armed with the new tools of democracy that you so wonderfully pioneered in 2008 and our brothers and sisters in Egypt revolutionized in 2011, the millennial generation has been awaken to the reality that we can no longer wait for "Yes We Can" any longer.
We must embrace the notion that "Yes I Can" individually take action with our peers to make a difference through permanent ongoing demonstrations and organization to ensure our voices will be heard above the fundraising dollars of those who seek to silence us. And as you can see it is plainly working.
President Obama, if you truly believe in the American Dream, you can no longer sit on the sidelines and must show your support for these activists who share your belief in democracy Of The People, By The People and For The People.
President Obama, if you truly believe in the American Dream, please condemn the actions of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and demand that court orders protecting “The 99%” Movement headquartered at Occupy Wall Street in Zuccotti Park be respected and "occupations" around the country regain their 1st Amendment Right of peaceful Assembly immediately because the only “health and fire safety hazard” is being created by over-zealous law enforcement.
President Obama, if you truly believe in the American Dream, act now because you are at risk of losing more than an election or a political party, you are at risk of losing the country you love. And whether forewarned about these actions or not, there is still time to be on the right side of history.
We are the precipice of a 21st Century Global Revolution energized by an American class-based "Civic" War caused by those dividing us through fear and hate of each other as they eat more and more of our nation’s Economic Pie.
The destruction of Occupy Wall Street will forever be known as “American Democracy’s 9/11 Attack” and the beginning of open class warfare perpetrated by America’s 12th-richest billionaire of “The 1%” versus a handful of peaceful citizens sleeping in tents in the middle of the night without sufficient warning or the protection of objective press and legal observers.
The world is now watching the United States of America to see if we are truly champions of democracy or if when OUR population takes to the streets will we join the ranks of global oppressors from the violence of Assad to the more stealthy Saudi Royal Family that bred our attackers of a decade ago and were never held accountable due to our daunting addiction to petroleum.
Yet this time, our elected leaders have the power to stop the oppression of those who have so successfully used a “Fear Machine” of corporate propaganda against us and to hold them accountable by immediately removing our unnecessary addiction to fundraising cash.
In the streets around the world it has been demonstrated that in the system we live in today the dollars in our pocket will no longer decide market outcomes. It is time to wean the baby away from the teet and doing the work of the People again because they are the ones with the power now.
Let us end the “Corporate Cold War” being waged by Multi-National Corporate Communists from the financial arms race destroying our politics because it can only lead to the Mutually-Assured Destruction of the democratic and economic system of the greatest nation on Earth.
It is time to act before its too late as we have already been traumatized by the effects of nearly a second Great Depression in recent years inflicted by our multi-national enemies that have blitzkrieged our Wall Street board rooms and K Street lobbying firms via a silent coup led under the banner: “Too Big Too Fail.”
The last two months have proven that the American people want leaders that fight for their future and that is what this moment is all about.
I joined your campaign on February 10, 2007 because I knew you were the leader with the qualities that would be victorious and today I feel the same way about “The 99% Movement - which has just grown exponentially stronger.
President Obama, its time to show us your audacity TODAY because we truly have reached, as you once noted, Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Urgency of Now.”
So, please remember that Yes YOU Can. And we know you will.
