Before I even start this post I have to hat tip Chris Hedges on his wonderful op-ed in response to Mayor Bloomberg's scandalous behavior - What Revolution Looks Like.
In the middle of the night Mayor Michael Bloomberg, member of the 1% and notorious Bankster, in a secret operation reminiscent of other tyrannical regimes, forced out the protesters from Liberty Plaza.
(Bloomberg's Public Relations Team worked late into the night)
The legality was almost as hollow as the ethics, from CBS News:
Public Advocate Bill de Blasio called it "needlessly provocative and legally questionable."
Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer said he was "greatly troubled by reports of unnecessary force against protesters and members of the media, including the use of chokeholds and pepper spray."
U.S. Rep. Jerrold Nadler and state Sen. Daniel Squadron said the action had raised "serious civil liberties questions."
But briefly putting aside the legality or illegality of the raid was another event, from the same story:
Earlier in the day, another judge had issued a temporary restraining order that appeared to bar the city from preventing protesters from re-entering the park, but it was unilaterally ignored by the police and city officials.
Friends, its a sad but constant refrain - Two sets of laws one for the rich and one for the rest of us.
Rich people, including the mayor's girlfriend, want you out of the park - here comes the pain. CRACK.
On the other hand...
Judge issues restraining order - whatever.
