You really need a crash course in how to “protect and serve”. A course in how to diffuse a potentially, heated situation is another suggestion. Don’t get me wrong, I understand your frustration. What to do when there is no hostage, no specific demands, no leaders to bargain with, and those who buy your elections are clamoring for action?
Some may say, and they have, “These Occupy people don’t have any organization, including cleaning up for themselves. These Occupy people are full of violent anti-capitalist anarchists who seek to create chaos. These Occupations attract the outcasts in society, the homeless, the rapist, the suicidal, and the mentally ill.” The least honest claim is that police are prevented from protecting citizens because these Occupations demand a huge police presence to “protect property”.
Recent police actions against the elderly, the non-violent, the Press, elected officials, Veterans, women and children (some of the 1%) will go a long way in assuring your defeat in an election. Your approval ratings, support from donors, troops on the ground going door to door, will erode as you trespass over that thin line between responsible actions, and those that benefit the minority at the expense of the majority.
The “Rotten Apple” defense is especially troubling when it is used as a defense for members of law enforcement, or our military. “There are lies, dirty rotten lies, and liars.”
We do forgive, if a sincere apology is offered. We do not forget. That is my promise to you Mayors. If you ignore the call for non-violence, you may receive the same “fuck you” I’ve offered to those who support violent actions.
The only logical question is what is America without empathy for the less fortunate, or for those who do not share your political or religious beliefs? Another question, Mayors, do you understand that an informed youth, participating in government, is far more important to insure we maintain our Republic, than a Wall Street banker?
Mayors, I understand why the people have taken to the streets. Our corrupt political system has given them no choice.
I’m an ordinary senior citizen, just getting by, with no health insurance. I don’t have millions for your campaign coffers. What I do have is a firm belief (based not in religion, although it has roots there) “The Power of the Word is greater than the power of the sword.”
