An alarm has been raised by the ACLU and other groups concerning the Defense Authorization Act Bill. They say it allows for indefinite detentions of US citizens, a direct violation of the US Constitution.
Here's something you might want to know about...
An alarm is being raised about Senate Bill 1867, the National Defense Authorization Act. A vote is expected in the US Senate on Monday or Tuesday.

Here's an alert that went out from "Occupy By Phone":
"Call the authors of this bill and give them hell, John McCain (R-AZ) (202) 224-2235 & Carl Levin (D-MI) (202) 224-6221.
Next CALL YOUR LOCAL SENATORS AND ASK THEM TO VOTE YES ON THE UDALL AMENDMENT TO PROTECT OUR RIGHTS!"
According to the blog on the ACLU website, "The White House, the Secretary of Defense, and the Attorney General have all said that the indefinite detention provisions in the National Defense Authorization Act are harmful and counterproductive"...
Another disturbing paragraph:
"In support of this harmful bill, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) explained that the bill will 'basically say in law for the first time that the homeland is part of the battlefield' and people can be imprisoned without charge or trial 'American citizen or not.' Another supporter, Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) also declared that the bill is needed because 'America is part of the battlefield.'
I'm not sure what these Senators are thinking, but it may be simply election year politics. Let's hope they don't have something more sinister in mind, because I have a great fondness for the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
The suspension of habeas corpus makes it impossible for the people to hold their government accountable for it's actions against potentially innocent citizens.
