Looks like this affair business may have been a bridge too far. National Review is reporting that Cain is "reassessing" his campaign.

In a conference call this morning, Herman Cain told his senior staff that he is “reassessing” whether to remain in the race. He told them he will make his final decision “over the next several days.”
Not much news on it yet, but this could be a game changer if he does drop out. His support has to go somewhere, and you can bet its not going to Romney.
I also have to wonder if "reassessing" really means "on the phone with the Koch brothers figuring out how much more of this they'll foot the bill for".
9:17 AM PT: The New York Times is reporting on this now as well. Seems to be more than just way to shift focus off the affair. Now this is just pure speculation, but if he is serious about trying to stay in the race, I would look for him to suspend his campaign relatively soon to try to kill the story, and possibly try to stage a comeback just before the Iowa caucuses.
