Courtesy of a craven cave in from the Ohio Democratic Party the Buckeye State now has an astonishingly GOP Friendly House map. Dropping two districts, courtesy of redistricting, Ohio has 16 Districts on the ballot with the only competitive races next November likely to be in OH-06 and OH-16. After a 2010 election night that ended up 13R/5D (ugh) a 10R/6D, 11R/5D or 12R/4D split looks likely post 2012. Candidate Filing closes on 30th December.
Below the fold for the state of play with candidate filings and take a look at the 2012 Race Tracker Wiki.
Once again here is all the linky goodness:
OH-01, OH-02, OH-03, OH-04, OH-05, OH-06, OH-07, OH-08, OH-09, OH-10, OH-11, OH-12, OH-13, OH-14, OH-15, OH-16,
For those that are keen on intra party Primary bloodshed Ohio gives us incumbent on incumbent Primaries in OH-09 (D) & OH-10 (R). In the General keep an eye on OH-16 for D incumbent (Sutton) on R incumbent (Renacci) violence.
Team Blue is off and running having only two districts without candidates:
OH-01,
OH-04,
Cincinnati Mayor Mark Mallory is considering a run in the 1st. (Although he has been silent about it since March!) Connie Pillich was running but withdrew to run for re-election to the State House. No rumoured candidates in the 4th.
The GOP have also hit the ground running with only 1 uncontested District:
OH-11,
No candidates in the offing here either.
Both Parties had a full slate in 2010.
So with the first 3 states heading towards the closing of filing Team Blue is looking for 10 candidates (7 in Texas, 1 in Illinois and 2 in Ohio) whilst the GOP is searching for only 3 (1 in Texas, 1 in Illinois and 1 in Ohio).
A rather grim prognosis for Team Blue thus far.
