“Nothing Strengthens Authority So Much As Silence.”
Leonardo da Vinci
As a first time blogger here, I hesitated as to what to discuss.
Keep it simple. Write from your core. The core of me is frustrated. I am sick of the apathy.
In this life, you either DO or DON’T stand for something. The choice is yours and yours alone. If, after all is said and done, how do you want to be remembered? For some, and no judgment here, perhaps the best cookie maker ever is enough. For others, a legacy of active involvement in the happenings on the planet on which they dwell is vital. It is those in the middle that I wish to address. Stand for something, anything, but speak up, speak out and be heard. Silence is simply not acceptable.
I don’t care what “side” you’re on, if you think and feel, you’re on the side of what’s Right, which is actually the Left.
As an observer, sympathizer and commentator on the Occupy Movement, several things stand out. The hardcore members are not afraid to speak, not afraid to get arrested, not afraid to be uncomfortable. They STAND for something and they do it for YOU. I understand many are not in any position to be arrested for their beliefs, jobs being hard enough to come by and keep. Find an acceptable way to be heard.
For those of you that pass by the Occupy sights and honk and wave in support, get out of the damn car for an hour, hold a sign, bring some soup, STAND for something. Do something, Do anything.
It is not enough in these dangerous times to give lip service to a cause.
Pepper spray directly in the face, you’ve seen it; you know it, is it OK with you?
It is not enough to assume someone else will do it.
Don’t just rock the boat, capsize the friggin thing, damn it, get involved. It is your country, your life and the life of those you love that is at stake.
The question is, what are you going to do about any of it, one tiny part of it, are you capable of doing ANYTHING? If so, STAND and be counted.
Silence is NOT Golden, it’s deadly.
