Can the man who was a distant 6th just two weeks ago really win Iowa? It's possible according to recent polls. How did this happen? Is it possible that the Republican voters may be making the "right" decision?
Rick Santorum represents two things. He's the aptly dubbed NR-NR (Not Romney, Not Ron) and he hasn't had any skeletons creep out of his closet (yet). The other NR-NRs all have some sort of baggage that would hold them down head-to-head against Obama.
The one thing Santorum's rise clearly points out is that the majority of Republicans are not happy with Romney representing them and fear what a Paul candidacy would mean. Both front-runners scare the majority for one reason or another, which is why every other week we have a new NR-NR.
Will they settle for Romney by default? Will Paul's passionate army be able to scare up enough support? Will the majority of Republicans in Iowa who are currently split between the other major candidates unify in time behind Santorum?
We'll find out very soon.
