It's the last day of 2011. It's the last opportunity to do something that matters for this calendar year. I'm donating a small amount to the following:
- Okiciyap (We Help): You can make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation to the Okiciyap Food Pantry funding drive here - http://okiciyap.yolasite.com/...
Here's a handy Widget (hat-tip to Dr. Erich Bloodaxe, RN for the reminder):
The rest of the items are ~not~ tax deductible, but very worthy. Even a small donation will help ANY of these items. And item #4 requires NO MONEY AT ALL - just a moment or two of your time & your determination to help under-served communities learn to better help themselves in this digital age. Bugger - I thought the Pepsi Challenge ended Feb 1 for some weird reason. It ended last night.
- dKos Small Donors List [send $5 or $10 to KelleyRN2 (at) gmail (dot) com via PayPal, with the message "small donors list"]
- Propane for the Lakotas on South Dakota reservations [donating via PayPal via navajo (at) nativeamericannetroots (dot) net - slowest option to get the $$ there, but only one I have at the moment] More information is available here: http://www.dailykos.com/...
There's another non-PayPal option that will actually help provide propane directly to the tribes much, much faster - see below the orange squiggle for more information.
I'm also casting a daily vote (and a daily text message - so, two votes) for the Pepsi "Refresh Everything" Challenge proposal "Lifting the Digital Curtain." [http://refresheverything.com/...] The Pepsi Challenge ended last night - for some reason, I mistakenly thought it was ending by Feb 1.
The site is temporarily under maintenance until noon ET (as of 9:00 am ET 12/31/2012), but please go sign up & vote as soon as it's back online.
If you can toss $3, $5 or more to any or all of causes 1-3 above, you can be part of a growing pool of people who are making an important difference in the lives of others. And if you can cast a vote for item #4, Lifting the Digital Curtain (ideally, on a daily basis until Feb 1) - which requires no money whatsoever - you can help further the ability of under-served communities to help themselves.
Thank you.
OK - about that non-PayPal way to help with propane donation for the Lakota:
