Recently, I stumbled upon something that I didn't expect to find on the internet: The Republican Pledge of Allegiance. I can't remember the web page where I found it, but I must say that was as bewildered as Alan Grayson when he learned of the Republican healthcare plan. This is quite interesting because it conflicts with the actual Pledge of Allegiance. I think that it only applies to elected Republicans.

The Republican Pledge of Allegiance
I pledge Allegiance, to Grover Norquist, and to his Self Esteem, and to the Corporations, which we must Tax less and less, Regardless of Debt Incurred, on the Backs of the Unworthy Poor and Middle Classes.
So I had to find the Pledge of Allegiance that we all know to make sure that I have the correct wording.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
It's a good thing that I checked the written version because I could have missed a comma.
In my understanding, Americans all around should be supporting our nation and the nation should be supporting it's citizens when needed. These two pledges are contradictory because taxes could be used to pay the debt. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that a small rebellion by a veteran named Daniel Shays prompted the Framers of the Constitution to abandon the Articles of Confederation which made it difficult to collect taxes in the first place. I think that the Tea Partiers may have been sleeping in history class that day.
Perhaps we should remind the Republicans in Congress that only one pledge really matters.
So say we all!
